Final Fantasy 13 Ripped
With Final Fantasty XIII still three months away from release, the game has received is first bashing from Chis Kohler at Gaming | Life. He’s had a chance to play the game for over 17 hours and gives a pretty solid early review.
Oh magic hand, tell me this game isn't going to disappoint.
He notes that the game is filled with killer cinematic episodes all in total for about 90 minutes. I for one, sometimes get lost in videos, especially if they are a bit long. Specially when they are non – interactive. I think Square Enix should have looked at Resident Evil 5 for some good tips on how to make those cut scenes engaging.
Chris goes on to bash the time it takes to get accustomed to the new battle system and a few other nuisances in the game. Get a load of this, “If I ever slacked off a little, the damage was never permanent: If you die, you start right back on the screen before the battle, with no penalty. Heck, if things ain’t going right, you can just choose to restart the battle before you kick the bucket. Oh, and you’re automatically healed to full strength after each battle.” This quote definitely puts a damper on the game for me.
It’s the little things that make the game challenging and fun at the same time. It looks like Square Enix did away with those. Chris goes on to note that the games staples such as Chocobos, Gil and Potions are all in the game just for the sake of being there and don’t seem to be there for an exact purpose.
Hmmm. Upsetting to say the least. We’ll reserve judgement until its US release. However, these aren’t things I wanted to hear.
