For those looking for some turn table scratchin’ and beat jugglin’ of the likes of DJ Hero. Hip Hop All Stars comes close to replicating what DJ Hero does on the Xbox 360 and PS3.
There aren’t any tracks that you might recognize however Busta Ryhmes, Ray J and Kid Cudi do make an appearance. The game plays without the cross fader as you’re simply asked to tap on turn table as the beats hit the beat counter. In some cases you’re asked to keep your finger on some of the longer notes.
Beat a few tracks and you’re pitted up in a DJ battle where you can sabotage your competition by using items that will trip up your competition like having their beat counter flicker on and off and throwing graffiti on their screen.
I recommend playing this game with headphones as the beats sound much better. I found myself having more fun with some Bose headphones. Surprisingly, some of these tracks are pretty deep. You won’t find any commercial tracks from Jay – Z or Eminem. The tracks are very limited and do get a little tiring after the first few times around. The difficulty increases but the tracks repeat themselves. You are able to get different items like new headphones and such but the game definitely needs more tracks.
There is this little power gauge that fills up as you hit beats throughout the track. Once filled, you tap on it to shift to the right turntable where you can scratch freely for bonus points. A neat little addition to the game.
Otherwise, the game is pretty fun if you’re just chillin out and want to kill some time while listening to some beats.
Cash, a lowrider and a turntable. What else do you want?
