Well if you’re looking for another quick game to play and test your reaction skills, look no further than Stay. Anthropophagy has released Stay for the iPhone and iTouch on August 18, 2009. The game has some of the most original graphics that I’ve seen on the iPhone. The game itself doesn’t have that much longevity but is a worthwhile game that should kill a few minutes.
Anthropophagy (try saying that 3 times), describes the game as a balancing game about action and reaction. The objective of the game is to keep the shapes balanced on the balancing scale as they fall from the sky. Similar to Tetris. As the game progresses, more and more shapes fill the screen. With varying weight and shape, the screen quickly becomes filled with various shapes. Yeah I know, it sounds exciting. Some shapes are even, “evil” and explode as soon as they land on the scale and cause a quite a ruckus.
It’s easy to pickup and play as the game makes simple use of the touch screen on the iPhone/iTouch. It’s a simple up and down motion with your index finger as you drop the shapes onto the scale.
Game levels have timers and the longer the stage goes, the more challenging it gets as you balance more and more shapes. Unfortunately, once the novelty wears off, I found myself bored with Stay. I’m not a huge fan of these types of games, though I am a fan of Lumines, Tetris and similar types of titles. I appreciate that Anthropophagy is pushing the envelope here and innovating but there isn’t much more than a few minutes of gameplay.
Stay offers 3 difficulty settings along with a survival mode.
