Resident Evil was a breakthrough in gaming. Resident Evil 5, is a game that stays true to the original. Even in the face of a next generation platforms such as the Xbox 360 and the PS3, Capcom decided to stick with has brought them success and acclaim since 1996.

Visually, the game is beyond any Resident Evil ever published. Capcom fully harnessed the power of the Xbox 360 and PS3 when developing Resident Evil 5. Incredible visuals are seen across every level and cut scenes throughout the game.

Gameplay, stays true to the original. Whether or not you’re a fan of the Resident Evil 5 controls, you have to admit that it’s a feel is like no other and feels like that comfortable pair of shoes you can’t seem to throw away. The controls still limit gameplay especially when zombies seem to pack the screen and sometimes get a little frustrating when fighting bosses. The quick turnaround is something you definitely have to master progress through the game.

Why I love when a game makes you ration items is something I can’t easily explain. It must be the challenging aspect of it or simply knowing that bigger battles lie ahead. You’ll experience more of the same in Resident Evil 5. Without overloading or being too stingy with items, Resident Evil 5 does a great job of staying within the boundries of being unreasonably difficult and challenging.

One of the best bosses in the Resident Evil series.
Boss battles are complete and utter drama. Every stage ends in one and you’ll encounter some of the best of the series in Resident Evil 5. You’ll find yourself looking forward to them and find yourself disappointing you don’t get to battle them once more.
Where the game truly shines, is in Co-Op mode. It’s honestly one of the best Co-Op games I’ve ever played. It goes beyond just simply playing alongside a friend. Strategy must be implemented. One that worked well, was having one friend be an explosives expert and another being a shooter specialist. All bosses require coordination with your teammate. Unfortunately, if you play the one player game, your parter is as dumb as a doornail and often gets in the way of a good game.

I don't think I have enough treats for all of you.
There are weapons and ammo galore that allow you to kill and amputate zombies and creatures. Personally, a magnum shot to the cranium of a zombie is one of my favorites.
The game has other options of gameplay and several achievements that will eventually let you get infinite ammo and other cool stuff. On the Xbox 360 you can easily partner with a friend or someone you’ve never met. I found it was enjoyable to get the magnum with unlimited ammo and go on a zombie killing spree. Ah, good times.

Beyond that, I don’t see too much replay value. There is another game mode that let’s you go in rounds as you fight off horde after horde of enemies which was enjoyable but gets stale. If you’re fan of the series, I definitely recommend picking this one up. You won’t be dissappointed. However, if you’re choice is to rent then I reccommend you take a week off to plow through all the stages with a good friend.

In the end, the game is a great pickup on any platform. You’ll greatly enjoy blasting zombies and progressing through some of the more challenging levels. Boss fights, visuals and physics all come together in this Resident Evil series that is sure to please any RE fan.
