The cast of King of Fighters lands on the Xbox 360 and PS3. For those that are forever in love with the 2-D fighter and are big fans of the on-going fighting fun that SNK brings to the house, King of Fighters 12 is a title that you’ll want to check out.
The design and animation stays true to the King of Fighter series. Keep your eyes peeled on the backgrounds, as they provide a solid experience when beating up on your friends. Especially, when the game is played in high definition. It won’t disappoint.
With 22 characters, tons of combos and levels, you’ll be playing this title for quite a while. As with all fighters, except for the recent Street Fighter 4 release, I found myself bored. But only after several hours of playing King of Fighters 12. I can’t tell you how much that a friend is needed to play this game, in order to have some real good fun. Otherwise, it’s just fighting against the computer which can get boring very quickly.
Master combos takes some precision skills and some patience as King of Fighters 12 plays at a fast pace. The character set isn’t very balanced, a little less then some of the previous versions from SNK.
What did bug me about this game is that some of the characters, seemed a bit useless. Especially some of the female ones. A note to SNK, if you’re going to release a good set of characters, make them a bit more balanced and all very lethal. It just makes the game much more fun.
King of Fighters 12 doesn’t do too much for me and seems to be more of the same, but we’d should be surprised. I also think the recent release of Street Fighter 4, not only put 2-d fighting games on the map again but also set a new standard for fighters on the newer platforms. In my opinion, King of Fighters 12 is not worth more than a rental or picking up until it’s found in your bargain bin at your local game store.
