Castle Crashers from developers “The Behemoth” have brought back the 2-D, hack N slash, action game to life in a gratifying way. From vivid colorful cartoon characters to funny and destructive boss battles this action dungeon crawler delivers everything you want with a dash of RPG element. At 1200 Microsoft Points you couldn’t ask for more. With extra upgradable content such as “King Pack” and “Nercomantic Pack”, Castle Crashers has hours on in for continuous hours of game play and extra goodies. Not to mention all the different combination’s you will be testing out after distributing points into different stats.

After slashing and casting your way through the first level of battle you can’t help but feel addicted and welcomed. With an easy to pick up controller scheme and battle sounds that tickle the ear, you already know your Microsoft Points were well spent. This goes without saying the in game humor is well fitting. Accumulating and adjusting skill points will make your character unique from your friends. You could be strong in magic as where your team mates(up to 3 others) might be reinforced in strength or agility whereas you are not. Weapons and Orbs are also attainable through the game by either digging or just having a sense of exploration around tight spots through out battles areas.
Castle Crashers can be a whole different type of fun after finishing once, as enemie characters in the game become unlocked and playable your second time through. Each unlocked character comes with his own weapon and unique magic spell. Another extra is the option to play the game on a special extra challenging difficulty. Playing the mini game “All You Can Quaff” is also tons of fun as you eat your way through different foods from the game, smashing your controller buttons and alternating to beat your friends. Orbs give you extra needed abilities such as occasionally shooting certain types of magic, finding items from grass and tress, or just helping you look for hidden special items through out game levels(even more secret Orbs!). You can now see why this game is worth every penny…this much replay value from a Xbox Live Arcade title is gold through the eyes of many gamers. Whether you play online or offline there is no barrier to the amount of fun you will experience.
The story lacks but the game play makes up for this drastically. Hey, there is no rule that the lack of story makes a game horrible. In fact it fits well for Castle Crashers as your main goal is to rescue all 4 hot princess’s from total despair(as one of the kings favored knights). This is all that is needed for the title to grace you with all the hidden extras. There aren’t to many Xbox Live Arcade titles that are worth the whole 1200 Microsoft Points(or your cash for that matter) but developers “The Behemoth” bring you a title that does everything but rip you off. If this type of game still doesn’t tickle your fancy at least download the trial. It’s good to know dungeon crawlers such as this one can still be fun to play and polished such as Castle Crashers. Let’s hope this raises the bar for upcoming Xbox Live Arcade titles.

Tried this game it was fun but I think I would have more fun with mutiple people playing. LOVE the orbs
