Mix Nazis, guns, ammo and some witty comedy and you’ll get Wolfenstein RPG for the iPhone. A superb attempt at bringing this classic FPS to the iPhone. With a turn based system, Wolfenstein finds a way to stay true to the look and feel of the original series.
Oh great, not this guy again.
I was very skeptical when first reading about the turn based system but knew that Id sofware had to figure out a way to bring Wolfenstein to the iPhone in an innovative way. It actually works pretty well and once you get the hang of it, which should come within minutes, you’ll find yourself immersed in the action.
Pardon me Nazi man, there's something on your face!
A wide array of weapons not to mention your two fist and two boots, you’ll be punching and shooting your way through Nazi’s in no time. The turn based system works the best in times of chaos when there are several Nazi bums on the screen. It’s at that point you realize you’re not playing an FPS. Just an FPS with an RPG twist.
Navigating through menus is done with ease. You get tons of extras that help you on your mission like health packs, armor, juiced syringes and over 16 different weapons.
The game stays true to it’s root with its comedic dialogue and interactions. There’s nothing like punching chickens in the face. Sound is more than solid and even gives you the option to play music from your iPod while you’re playing.
This chickens gonna get it.
The graphics are some of the best I’ve seen yet. Particularly, because the way they chose to design the game. Well done. The game also comes with some extra mini-games such as “Kick the Chicken” and “War”.
Overall, the game is pretty good for a FPS, I mean RPG. For a penny under three bucks, its a lot better than most of the games you’ll get on a DS or any other mobile device.
